How to Setup WP Super Cache and WPtouch Pro on WordPress

WP Super Cache and WPtouch Pro are very essential plugins for any WordPress site these days. With rising market of Smart Phones, iPhones, Tabs and iPads, it’s important that you keep up with modern technology.

Mobile traffic is going to be very huge in near future. So you don’t want to miss out on that. Today I’m going to explain you how you can use popular WordPress caching plugin WP Super Cache and WPtouch together on a single blog. The reason I’m writing this is that these two plugins don’t work very well together. Both developers tried to make these plugins work together. But thing are messed up somewhere in the middle. I figure out how to use both on same blog without touching the codes. However you can’t use WPtouch Pro’s iPad features with this method. That’s right; you have to turn off iPad support in WPtouch settings. iPads will be served with your regular theme.

I’m assuming you already installed both plugins on your WordPress blog. Navigate to WP Super Cache settings and click on ‘Advanced Tab’. Under the advance tab, look for check box called ‘mobile device support’. Tick it and save the changers. Make sure you don’t enable iPad support in the WPtouch Pro settings. That’s it! You won’t have any errors like mobile theme loading on desktop browser now. But there is another thing you need to do to make your website fully compatible with all mobile devices.

Adding Support to Nokia, Sony Ericson and Other Devices

WPtouch Pro only supports very few mobile devices by default. It doesn’t work with Nokia, Sony Ericson and other mobile devices. If you want to make it work on other devices, you have to manually assign each user agent in the WPtouch settings.

So go to WPtouch settings and navigate to ‘Active Theme’ tab. Then click ‘Mobile User Agents’. You’ll see an empty box named ‘Custom Mobile User Agents’. Paste following mobile user agents list to the box and click “‘Save Changers’
